Webinar 2: Dart Thrower’s Motion Orthosis

Monday, October 7, 7 PM – 8 PM (EST)

OR Tuesday, October 8, 2 PM – 3 PM (EST)

The Dart Thrower’s Motion Orthosis is an orthosis designed to address the specific needs of patients requiring controlled wrist motion that allows for flexion combined with ulnar deviation and wrist extension combined with radial deviation.  This orthosis is named for the way it allows for motion similar to the dart-throwing motion, which is a complex, multi-planar movement involving the wrist and forearm.

The orthosis provides support for the wrist and hand while allowing for a controlled range of motion.  By stabilizing the wrist in a functional position, the orthosis helps patients achieve better grip strength and precision in their hand movements, following injury to the scapho-lunate ligament complex of after surgical repair of this ligament.

During this webinar, demonstration of the fabrication techniques for this unique orthosis will be offered.
